Director

Mary Lou is the Chief Eyecare Officer (CEO) and proud co-owner of the locally owned Mayfair Optometric Clinic, where she has built a reputation for exceptional care and deep community engagement. With a long standing passion for volunteerism and giving back, Mary Lou brings a heart driven leadership style to Pawsabilities Service Dog Society.

In 2020, after saying goodbye to her beloved pit bull Roo-D, Mary Lou famously declared, “No more dogs.” But fate had other plans. Just weeks later, a spirited mixed breed puppy named Arch-EE unexpectedly joined the family, changing their lives and paving the way for Mary Lou’s introduction to the Woofability community.

Searching for the perfect daycare to support their active, travel filled lifestyle (including their frequent trips to Seattle to cheer on their beloved Seahawks), Mary Lou and her husband Stephen discovered Woofability Enrichment Academy. Arch-EE quickly found his second home there, and his boundless enthusiasm famously seen when he has to be coaxed out of their red SUV to leave Woofability became a joyful testament to the welcoming environment Tim and April created.

Through Arch-EE’s friendship with service dog Buttons, Mary Lou was inspired to become deeply involved in the service dog community. Her clinic, Mayfair Optometric, now proudly serves as a valuable training site, offering handler dog teams real world exposure to clinical settings, equipment, and public environments.

Mary Lou has witnessed first-hand the dedication, skill, and life-changing impact that service dogs provide to individuals with diverse abilities. Her commitment to service dog advocacy, public education, and expanding access to these life-enhancing partnerships is at the core of her work with Pawsabilities.

She is proud to support Pawsabilities Service Dog Society’s mission to ensure service dogs are accessible to everyone who needs them regardless of financial barriers.

We exist because service dogs change lives—and everyone deserves that chance.
