Corey
Director
Corey is a lifelong Vancouver Island resident who comes from a family deeply rooted in community service and youth sports development. His dedication to supporting others both professionally and personally has shaped his life and his leadership approach.
Surprisingly, Corey’s passion for dogs didn’t begin until he entered the world of law enforcement, where he first worked as a K9 Quarry. This experience sparked a lifelong fascination with working dogs and launched him into a journey of continuous learning. Corey travelled across North America, immersing himself in specialized K9 training, from law enforcement disciplines to Schutzhund and the French Ring, learning from experts and refining his skills at every opportunity.
His dream of serving with a K9 partner came true early in his career. Corey’s partnership with Police Service Dog Rocco (Saanich PD) became the defining chapter of his professional life. Together, they served for seven years, apprehending suspects, finding evidence, competing at national championships, inspiring kids, and even appearing in films.
Although Corey has since retired from active K9 service, his passion for working dogs remains strong. Today, he proudly serves as “K9 Grumpa” to his daughters’ dogs, Remy and Rocky both regulars at Woofability Enrichment Academy. His first-hand experience as a K9 handler and deep appreciation for the human-canine bond drew him to Woofability and ultimately to Pawsabilities Service Dog Society.
Corey is known for his enthusiastic spirit and his genuine desire to share what he loves with others. His respect for the integrity, intelligence, and innovative training that April, Tim, and the Woofability team bring to the service dog industry fuels his dedication to this cause.
As a director with Pawsabilities, Corey is honoured to advocate for accessible service dogs, support public education, and help raise the standard of care and training within the service dog community.
